Power take-offs (PTOs) are mechanical devices that are connected to the gear systems of industrial vehicles. They pick up the driving power and make it available to other mechanical devices, e.g. hydraulic gear pumps or piston pumps. We have a wide range of PTOs with different coupling systems, suitable for most existing vehicles: mechanical, pneumatic, vacuum-controlled and clutch coupling.

Almost all industrial vehicles are more than just means of transportation: they are also outfi tted with equipment that requires an adequate PTO system.
Various factors must be taken into account when choosing the PTO best suited to each type of equipment.
Indicatively speaking, the following parameters must be considered:
- Using the PTO with a short-term workload - less than 15 min. (e.g., tipper trucks, hook loaders, vehicle transporters, etc.)
- Using the PTO with an average duration workload - from 15 to 30 min. (e.g., cranes, tank trucks, waste collection, tow trucks, etc.)
- Uses with long workloads - greater than 30 min. (e.g., miscellaneous compressors, firefighting vehicles, sewer flushing equipment, pumps for concrete, forestry cranes, etc)
Other very important factors to consider are:
- The max. power in HP or kW required by the setup. ( be these hydraulic pumps, compressors, etc.)
- The rotation speed of the PTO output shaft needed to deliver the required power. (or to obtain the necessary throughput from the pump(s))
- The frequency of the PTO work cycles and down times. The down times must maintain and ensure proper cooling of the gearbox oil. Make sure that it is not necessary to cool the gearbox oil with long workloads. ( (possible on some types of gearboxes).
- The lubrication type or option for the PTO (consider that almost all PTOs are lubricated with non-forced gearbox oil.) It is therefore very important that the PTO output shaft be lower than the gearbox oil level.
